How to join

Membership of Rother Fed Rother Fed members are Tenant and Resident Associations (TARAs) and Area Housing Panels (AHPs). The only criteria for full association (TARA) membership are:

  • that your group has adopted a fair written constitution that includes everyone in your area; council and other tenants, leaseholders and owner occupiers,
  • that one of your chosen representatives or delegates is a council tenant,
  • that your association agrees to Rother Fed’s Equalities and Diversity Statement -

"Rother Fed welcomes the diversity of the communities it serves and seeks to be as representative and inclusive as possible. Rother Fed will challenge racism, homophobia and all other hate crime in our organisation and in the community and will take disciplinary action where necessary. Rother Fed will do everything in its power to promote community cohesion".

To join, your association needs to fill in an application form that you can download here  (pdf file). Once we receive your form, it will go before the Executive Committee for their approval. If you are an individual and would like to be added to our mailing list contact us. Most of our meetings are open to all.

A Company Limited by Guarantee

Rother Fed is a company limited by guarantee which means we do not have shares or shareholders, but instead we have members. Our members are not liable for any debts of Rother Fed. By becoming a member, your association guarantees or promises to pay no more that £1, (that's all) should the company go bust. Our members do not receive any income but do receive other benefits such as support, training, information and more. You can download a copy of our Constitution (Memorandum and Articles of Association) here (pdf file).
