Breaking the Mould on Anti-Social Behaviour
The next delegates meeting will follow the AGM on Tuesday 27th March 2012 at Springwell Gardens Community Centre.
The meeting will begin at 3pm (the AGM is at 2pm) and will include the launch of the TARA Neighbourhood Support Officer Scheme. There will also short 3 minute presentations on how we can break the mould on antisocial behaviour (speakers to be announced in near future):

- Drug Misuse
- Garden Nuisance
- Intimidation
- Litter and Rubbish
- Noise
- Pet Nuisance
- Vandalism
- Vehicle Nuisance
Quality Awards 2012
These will be presented at the delegates meeting at 5pm on Tuesday 22nd May 2012 at Springwell Gardens Community Centre

By a large majority, RotherFed delegates agreed a resolution supporting RMBC's review of Area Housing Panels (AHPs). The resolution which addresses issues around governance, involvement and accountability was proposed by Clive Hartley and seconded by Mary Jacques. It was agreed both by on a card vote of delegates and a show of hands of all attendees at an open meeting held on Tuesday 22nd November 2011 at Springwell Gardens Community Centre attended by over 100 people.
The meeting was addressed by Tess Butler from RMBC who is presently consulting on the AHP review. A number of successful workshops were held , followed by speeches and discussion of resolutions addressing the review. The full text of the resolution which is now official RotherFed policy will be presented to RMBC.

Groups Celebrate Quality
Success came to a number of Rotherham community groups as their excellent work on behalf of their local neighbourhoods was rewarded with prestigious awards.

Over 100 people heard Phil Morgan's Key Note Speech at RotherFed's Community Involvement Event on 23rd November 2010. Phil spoke on why tenant and resident engagement matters. He called for the creation of Tenant Co-regulation Scrutineers, able to review and challenge a landlords approach to co-regulation and also allowing residents the opportunity to gauge the effectiveness of government locally in their communities.

Phil was former Chief Executive of TPAS and Executive Director of Tenant Services at the Tenant Services Authority. A link to the full speech here. Phil Morgan's Website

This delegates meeting discussed opportunities to build new council and social housing in Rotherham. Rt.Hon John Healey MP, (Minister of Housing), David Curtis, (Yorkshire and Humber Regional Director of the Homes and Community Agency), Cllr Jahangir Akhtar( Cabinet Member of Neighbourhoods from RMBC) and a Matthew Spittles from 2010 Rotherham Ltd made up the panel of speakers .

Draft Council House Futures Workshop Report (pdf file)
Tenants and residents made it very clear that they wished to be fully involved in Council House Directions . 50 people attended this open meeting addressed by Cllr Jahangir Akhtar, RMBC Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods which also included a short workshop discussing how tenants wish to be involved in the future management of council housing following the completion of Decent Homes.
