Supporting Quality TARAs in Rotherham
Alan Goy, our Member Development Officer can help you your TARA attain a Silver or Gold Quality Award. To gain these awards you need to show evidence of good practice in four areas. These are:
1. Managing Your TARA
Ensuring your constitution is adhered to and you manage your TARA well.
2. Communications
Keeping and sharing well kept records of everything you do.
3. Financial Control
Ensuring your TARA manages its money well.
4. Involving Your Community
Keeping everyone informed and involved in activities you organise.
5. Equalities
Trying to work with different sections of the community and challenging discrimination.

Good Practice Awards : Eleven TARAs were presented with Good Practice Awards at the Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 12th February 2008 at Silverwood Resource Centre. As well as being presented with an award, each community group received a £50 cheque to go towards TARA funds. Each award was to celebrate a specific area of good practice that TARA excelled in.

Winners are:
Campaigning Award: Hellaby Community Group for their determined actions to retain their village hall for the community.
External Community Building Award: Blackburn Community Partnership for their excellent work getting external works done to their community building
Fundraising Award: High Nook TARA in Dinnington for their creative ways of raising money for their group, organising a wide and diverse range of fundraising activities, auctions and fayres
Helping Others Award: Rawmarsh Area TARA for helping tenants in the Greenfields Centre set up their own tenants group. They have also helped them with their decent homes and with other partners
Including Everyone Award: Acorns TARA for organising different and varied activities and events for both young and old in their community in Wath. Internal
Community Building Award: Wharncliffe TARA for their excellent work with contractors Henry Boot to improve kitchen facilities in their community building in the town centre
Newsletter Award: Henley Community Group for producing, developing and making improvements to their excellent community newsletter
Projects Award: Greystones Action Group who have worked hard in delivering a number of successful community projects in Whiston
Social Activities Award: Kimberworth Park TARA for organising many subsidised trips and event for tenants and residents, including a breakfast club and numerous bric-a-brac sales in the tenants hall
Special Tenants Charter Award: Windy Ridge TARA, the first TARA in Rotherham to achieve this status, put together after considerable effort and time producing an options study for their centre in Aughton.
Training Award: New Laughton Common TARA for attending Rother Fed training events, improving their skills and therefore enabling them to build their own capacity.
