Council House Futures Group
The primary purpose of the Council Housing Futures Group set up by the RMBC Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods will be “to evaluate and recommend options for developing the Council’s landlord/managing agent function following completion of the decent homes programme in 2010/11”. The Futures Group has set up four workgroups which will look at:
1. Sustainability of the housing revenue account (HRA) -Rother Fed representative, Steve Ruffle
2. Choice of landlord/managing agent - Rother Fed representative Peter Collins
3. Options for new housing development - Rother Fed representative, Clive Hartley
4. Options for business expansion - Rother Fed representative, to be confirmed
The Future of Council Housing in Rotherham is the subject for the next Rother Fed delegates meeting to be held between 6pm and 8pm on Wednesday 10th September 2008 at the Unity Centre. Speakers include Cllr Jahangir Akhtar, RMBC Cabinet Member for Housing and Neighbourhoods and Colin Earl, Interim Chief Executive of 2010 Rotherham Ltd. There will also be a workshop looking at the options on the future management of council housing following the completion of Decent Homes. This meeting is open to all Rotherham tenants and residents and will include a free buffet and there will also be a number of small exhibitions and displays. In addition, all official Rother Fed delegates will receive £5 for their Tenants and Residents Associations (TARA) for attending this meeting.
