National Tenants Voice

Latest details of membership from Inside Housing here - South Yorkshire tenants noticeable by their absence.  Hays are now recruiting for the governing body and a chief executive - details here. The National Tenant Voice is a new organisation for tenants of housing associations, housing co-ops and local authorities (including ALMOs) in England. It aims to give tenants a voice, influence and expertise at national level. The Government's aim is for tenants to have a greater influence over the services they receive.

Richard Crossley from the Tenant Service Authority spoke about progress with the National Tenant Voice at the South Yorkshire Tenants Working Together Conference on 30th November 2009 at Springwell Gardens Community Centre in Rotherham. He announced that all members of the new National Tenants Council had been appointed and their first meeting will be during January 2010. The South Yorkshire Tenants and Residents Network is a new and informal  alliance of Barnsley Tenants Federation, Rother Fed,  Doncaster Tenants  Federation  and the newly forming Sheffield Alliance of Tenant and are keen to be represented in some way on this body.
