New Laughton Common TARA

BT Public Phone Box – Outgang Lane Laughton Common – Response from RMBC on the outcome of keeping the box:
"I can confirm that the BT Payphone at Outgang Lane, Laughton Common has been re-instated following on from the comments sent by RMBC to BT. BT have however expressed concern regarding the vandalism the phone box has suffered but they have agreed to reinstate it given the successful campaign from local community who effectively supported its retention. BT will not however be considering moving the phone box from its current location. I can also inform you that the schedule included within the local press, details the proposed removal by BT of a further 35 payphones throughout Rotherham Borough but the payphone at Laughton Common has been dealt with separately following on from the vandalism that was suffered by the payphone that rendered it inoperative at that time. We are a significant way through the process of advertising and seeking further comments on the removal of the 35 BT payphones in other communities throughout the Borough and it is anticipated that a final response will be sent to BT by RMBC in late September.

This group won a Rother Fed Good Practice Training Award for 2007 for attending Rother Fed training events, improving their skills and therefore enabling them to build their own capacity.
This TARA is working with partners to engage young people with the aim of creating a youth section in the near future.
