Members of EVCA are supporting a Living Streets Lantern Walk in Eastwood Village on the evening of 14th February 2012 beginning at 6.30pm.

A cross community walk was held on Saturday 29th October 2011. Ferham Community Group walked into town from Ferham Park and Eastwood Village Community Association walked into town from Eastwood village meeting together at the bus station. The walk into town was jointly organised by Ferham Community Group and Eastwood Village Community Association.Eastwood and Ferham communities are wanting to promote community cohesion in Rotherham. They were greeted by the Mayor and Dennis MacShane MP when they arrived at Rotherham Minster.

Eastwood Village Community Association (EVCA) celebrated it ten year anniversary with a 'This Is Your Life' presentation event on 19th January 2011. Members of the committee recounted the achievements of the group over the last ten years. These included the successful FunFest held every summer in the Park, the work of YPAN, the Youth Action Group and the many successful community cohesion events that have helped bring the community together over the years.

Beat the Bean- RotherFed Stall at Fun Fest August 2010
Hundreds of local residents from Eastwood enjoyed a lively afternoon of fun, football and face painting at the annual Funfest, which was supported by One Town One Community and held on Eldon Playing Fields, Rotherham. The afternoon kicked off with the Eastwood Cohesion Cup football tournament, with teams from Kimberworth, Eastwood, Rawmarsh, Maltby and a local Roma team, which was organised by RUFC Community Sports Trust. Entertainment also included an inflatable football pitch, a bird of prey display, henna tattoos, body art, face painting, bungee swing and lots of stalls, including South Yorkshire Police, St John’s Ambulance and RotherFed. Live music and performances were provided by the Shiloh Church Gospel Choir. John Porter (Jnr), one of the organisers of Eastwood FunFest, on behalf of Eastwood Village Community Association, said: “Yet again the event has been a huge success. It has brought people of all ages and cultures together to take part in fun activities and to enjoy themselves. We would like to thank all the members of the local community who have helped to organise the event and to those who attended Funfest and made it such a memorable day!”

This is the fifth year of Eastwood FunFest, which is organised by Eastwood Village Community Association, sponsored by One Town One Community and supported by RotherFed and Rotherham South Area Assembly, RMARRI, Eastwood Mission Church, South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue and South Yorkshire Police. Cllr Mahroof Hussain said: “Every year FunFest brings people together from the Eastwood area and gives them the chance to get to know their neighbours just a little bit better. There was a great atmosphere at Funfest and it just goes to show how important this type of event is to a community such as Eastwood.”

EVCA meetings are on the second Monday of every month at 6pm.
RotherFed's raffle was drawn by the Mayor of Rotherham at the Eastwood FunFest on Eldon Road Playing Fields on Saturday 8th August 2009.

FunFest was a very successful event on a warm day thanks to the work of TARA members Eastwood Village Community Association.

Inspired by Gill Hicks the association organised an event, Draw a Line, 0n 5th May 2009 in which tenants and residents from around the area joined hands to show how people, whoever they were, wished to work together and support one another.
