Harley Village Partnership
Harley does not have a post office nor a Doctor's surgery,a Dentist or a Chemist. The village does not have a public transport system convenient for residents to access these essential services, some elderly residents use taxis to visit their doctor at a cost of £10 each journey. With the re-development of the Dearne Valley, public transport services were altered to service the many jobs generated in the re-development. It came as no surprise when Harley residents were not able to try for employment in these new industries as the public transport system did not come to Harley. We believe that deprivation comes in many forms and a community's inability to access essential services should be high on the list.
