Use it or lose it! - that's the stark warning that trustees of Kilnhurst Resource Centre are stating to Kilnhurst residents.
The centre on Victoria Street was bulit 13 years ago and has a large hall, kitchen, computer room, under-fives room and a large reception area.
"We have several flourishing activities but the place is not used enough" said Trustee, David Sanderson. "The centre was built for the use of all living in Kilnhurst, and is owned by the people of Kilnhurst, but sadly is not generating enough money to cover running costs".
There is line dancing, bingo, Weight Watchers, Tai Chi, parent and toddler group, family history research sessions and it is also used for Councillors' surgeries.
"We have tried several initiatives to attract residents to use the centre but with little success" said Christine Bailey "A jumble sale and a Summer Fair for example were very poorly attended" she said.
The rooms are avilable for hire and have been used for parties, weddings and conferences.
Two new Zumba sessions are to be introduced soon on Wednesday and Friday evenings in an effort to boost funds.
"There was a well attended Youth Club but with the Government Cuts this has had to close" said David "What we need is a bedrock of activities to keep the centre running. It would be a real tragedy if it were to close, purely through lack of interest."
