Rawmarsh Area TARA
Rawmarsh Area TARA has worked closely with the probation service to refurbish the Greenfields Community Centre during the few weeks of July 2009 . The newly decorated centre was re-opened on 13th July 2009 and an excellent buffet was had by all. Steve Ruffle, Development Manager of RotherFed who cut the ribbon to open the new centre said he was very honoured to be at the opening of the newly refurbished community room. Mr.Ruffle said "a lot of work has been done by a small group of volunteers in the last few weeks to make sure the centre is in tip-top shape. Particular thanks must go to
Linda Sales, Tracy Harrison, Lyndsay Adams, Ann Hitchens and Jan Robinson." Residents and volunteers then entered the new centre and sat down to enjoy a buffet prepared by the volunteers from the TARA.
Mr Ruffle added "in particular it has been the Secretary of Rawmarsh Area TARA, Linda Sales who we need to thank. She has been the driving force behind many of the changes. Without her leadership and commitment, these improvement would not have happened.

A wonderful spread of items were for sale and mince pies were available for all passers by. The Play and Learn bus visited Bellowes Road a number of times during 2008. Rawmarsh Area Tenants and Residents
Group and Greenfields Residents Group in Rawmarsh got together on Bank Holiday Monday at the end of March 2008 to host an Easter Tea in order to bring the community together and also to raise money for the Rotherham Lions. Linda Sales, Chair of the Rawmarsh Area Tenants and Residents Group wanted to unite the community, some of which don’t see relatives over the Easter holidays. As well as supporting Rotherham Lions, Linda wished to thank Angie’s fruit shop for donating a basket of fruit and veg and to Liz Booth for donating an easter egg for this event. This group won the Rother Fed Good Practice Helping Others Award for 2007 for helping tenants in the Greenfields Centre setup their own tenants group. They have also helped them with their decent homes and with working with other partners.
The BETs team came to cut down and remove rubbish from around the centre at Green Rawmarsh. Linda Sales phoned Mick Lunn from the BETs team who came out the next day, on Monday 18th February 2008 and looked at what was needed. They came out on Tuesday 19th and Wednesday 20th and did the work required. Rawmarsh TARA and Greenfield residents put on pie and peas to show their thanks.
